Intro.

OH HELLO!!! Do I have your attention yet? Good! I have a question for you. When you are older, how cool will you be? Will you still be the head of the internet world? Will you still be in the forefront of the media? Or will you do what everyone else does and cling to the media pop that was in style during your early adult years, I.E now? Well if you pick the second, CONGRATULATIONS! You are going to be just like those that came before you, wishing for the days over your own version of the Neon Spandex and side pony tails! Maybe you will be old and wishing that Britney Spears was still touring, or wondering whatever happened to Maroon 5. Maybe you will be fauning over your old calenders with the LOLcats on them. Telling your kid that you want to "Haz Cheezburger." We are in the moment of the times right now, and so we don't see how potentially embarrassing these things are yet, so I'm gonna show you!

Some of my topics are going to be blatant. You are gonna be hopping in your chair pointing and laughing because you know that someone else is going to be embarrassed by that! Face it, we are all bad people on that front. I am however going to have some topics that is going to make you stare at the screen appalled with a look of "OMG" on your face. You will then promptly come into class the next day, pick up your keyboard, and show me how you REALLY feel about it. Should be fun!

"What did you say about Harry Potter?"

OH! And another thing. If you like what it is I say, then by all means, share it around. I'll do what I can to keep it all interesting with topics that you will find fun to talk about. If you have anything that you want me to tear apart, or perhaps even defend, then by all means leave a comment and I'll give you a fun review.

  1. You, sir, are so obviously a fan of cracked.com. <3

Maroon 5 will disappear simply because their sound is annoying, and they're not terribly attractive. Give them five more years, then they'll fade out. Abruptly...

You know what's embarrassingly generational, though? Lady Gaga. And that old Bugs Bunny cartoon with the Yeti, who wants "to hug you and squeeze you and call you George." Hell, Looney Tunes at all will die with our generation. They're trying to revive it, but it's just sad.

  2. The Twilight series, though I think it makes fun of itself... I'd love to hear your take on it.

Scenesters are another thing we'll be embarrassed about later. Good grief. =_=

  3. I'd like to see your take on reboots. We like to recycle our entertainment from East to West and sometimes it's great but some things should stay in the past.

For example I think that the new Transformers movies are an abomination to the Transformers universe but I thoroughly enjoy the new Batman reboot.

  4. I like where you are heading in this blog. One thing doesn't seem to jibe- you rip apart pop culture (props on that) but you seemed very attached to it. So which is it? Aside from that, generalizations of people and behaviors seems a bit risky without any formal title, research or logic to back it up. Yeah we've all heard the Maroon 5 jokes and yeah most their music sucks but who's making music and money and who's writing a blog- c'mon. You are mired deep in pop culture- I can tell this from the fact that I don't know half the crap you're bashing. I get the humor and the attempt at it but a recycled Maroon 5 joke and a few snarky comments don't equal a fulfilling experience for me.

  5. While yes, I find many things in pop culture ridiculous and fun to rip on. The fact is that it is still what our generation is going to be remembered for.

The blog is meant to pull people back from what it is that they are worshiping, and look at it through a more outside perception. I don't hate pop culture, I just find it funny.
